Caring For Our Community

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The state’s best student craftsmen in trades such as automotive technology, plumbing, HVAC repair, and sheet metal fabrication came together in Chattanooga recently to test their abilities in the Tennessee SkillsUSA competition. And CHC Mechanical Contractors President Garry Floeter was on hand to serve as a Coordinator in the sheet metal competition. Along with the help of volunteers from within the Sheetmetal industry, the skills of students from various highs school and Tennessee College of Applied Technology were put to the test. “Tennessee SkillsUSA plays an important part in helping young people hone their interpersonal as well as their trade skills,” said Floeter, who served as state president of the original organization then known as VICA from 1967-68. “Continuing education beyond high school doesn’t always have to involve a four year college degree. Learning a trade is just as critical in helping our economy grow, and these young people showed they have what it takes to help secure our future.” SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) and was founded in 1965 in Nashville, TN. CHC Mechanical Contractors has been providing mechanical construction, plumbing and related support services for commercial, industrial and institutional projects to the Upper Cumberland and Middle Tennessee since 1969. Plumbing Wall Of Fame

So you’re doing a dorm renovation for Tennessee Technology University in Cookevillee, TN. The problem: the design for your mechanical room calls for a lot of suspended pipe that’s going to eat up a lot of space. The solution? A revised layout that could easily be hanging in MOMA. Great work sent to us by Garry Floeter, President /Managing Member at CHC Mechanical Contractors…
